An automotive marketplace connecting buyers with vehicle sellers needs to handle two things a generic ecommerce platform doesn't do well out of the box: search that works the way vehicle shoppers actually search — by make, model, location, and specific attributes — and a seller onboarding process that scales past a handful of manually-vetted dealers.

Search built around how buyers actually shop for vehicles — location, distance, and vehicle-specific filters, not a generic product search bolted onto an automotive catalog.

A structured process for vendors to join the marketplace and list vehicles, built to handle growth beyond a small, manually-managed set of sellers.

What Was Technically Involved
Vehicle search with geolocation and multiple filter dimensions needs query performance that holds up as the catalog grows — this is where a lot of marketplace platforms slow down once listings scale past a few thousand. The data model and indexing were built with that growth in mind rather than optimised only for the size the platform launched at.
Built on Laravel with MySQL, hosted on Google Cloud Platform — chosen for the infrastructure flexibility needed to scale as usage grew rather than re-platforming later.
